A simple yet flavorful side dish that showcases the natural sweetness of cabbage, this recipe combines fresh cabbage with aromatic garlic, caraway seeds, and a touch of butter. A great way to highlight seasonal greens in your next meal!
Ingredients
- 1 medium head of cabbage, cored and sliced into 1/2″ thick strips
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Directions
-
In a large skillet, arrange the sliced cabbage in a single layer. Add just enough water to cover the bottom of the pan. Cover and steam the cabbage over medium heat until most of the water evaporates, about 3 to 5 minutes. Stir and continue cooking for another 2 minutes, until the water has evaporated and the cabbage is just tender. If there is still excess water, drain the cabbage in a colander.
-
Once the cabbage is tender, add the butter, parsley, garlic, caraway seeds, and lemon juice. Toss everything together to combine. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
-
Serve warm and enjoy this easy, flavorful side dish.
