Instructions:
- Combine all ingredients in your largest stock pot and cover with cold water. Simmer on low for 2-6 hours. When finished, take off heat and let cool. Remove the large pieces of bone, meat and vegetables. Strain with a fine mesh strainer
Tips:
- Save the cooked chicken back. Once it’s cooled, pull off any bits of meat and use them for an easy chicken soup!
Simmer low and slow! Cooking at a boil will lead to a cloudy broth. Cloudiness doesn’t really affect the flavor, it’s mostly a matter of the aesthetic of a clean, clear broth. So don’t worry if it does end up a little cloudy. - The longer you can simmer it the richer and healthier your broth will be! You can top off the water periodically if it starts to evaporate.
